Back to the Lake, a cute story

On a recent visit from Arizona, five-year-old, R.J., could not be convinced he was back in South Dakota.  Mom and Dad had told him and his little sister that they were taking an airplane to go visit Grandma and Poppy who had already been visiting Lake Poinsett since early summer.

So thinking maybe it was because this trip he had flown here instead of the long drive they made last year, his family all tried to persuade him with proof.  Stubbornly he refused to believe them and continued to ask, "When are we going to South Dakota?"

During the second week of their two-week vacation, they all decided to come out to LAKEVIEW Resort for lunch.  As they pulled into the parking lot, from the backseat came a loud, excited, five-year-old voice, "Hurray, we found it!"  R.J. exclaimed with an accompanying sigh of relief, "Finally, we found it.  We found South Dakota!"

Just in time for FREE FISHING weekend, we want to see your favorite "G0Ne FiShiNg" pictures. They don't have to be from Poinsett. Capture the moment with your caption. Just for fun, share them by emailing to lakeviewresortsd@hotmail.com or upload to facebook  so the friends of Lake Poinsett's LAKEVIEW can 'Like' them along with you ;)

MISSION Accomplished!

Minnow swallowing Success: Bob, PJ and Judy raised over $1000 for the Belly Can Challenge.  Congratulations Participants and Thank you Contributors!

1980's Theme Party--BJ from OUTLAW Entertainment orchestrated the musical karaoke show and trivia contest. Sunglasses and 80's attire made the night extra special.

The Live Minnow Swallowing Fundraiser began at 10 pm. at LAKEVIEW. Participants swallowed minnows for a good cause. They had been collecting pledges to raise money for the handicapped accessible dock project on Lake Poinsett. Over $1000 was raised by the three brave participants!

Judy and Marvin wrote: “Linda and Bob, thanks for hosting such a fun event. We hope there will be more to come, well, maybe not eating a minnow. I'm hoping someone got a couple good pictures and they somehow can get in our area local newspapers. I just realized this morning that a handicap dock is not just for handicap folks but for anyone not fortune enough to have a dock to sit on and enjoy the view and water. Perhaps with more newspaper exposure we can get more groups to participate. If we can help in any way let us know. Here is a list of my donors:  Melissa and Matt Nofziger, Cael, Cade and Coby Nofziger, Sarah Nofziger, M. L. Nofziger, Donna and Mike Vardsveen, Korrie and Nick Wallin, Out of State Friends and Relatives”

Pj wrote: "Thanks so much to the crew at Lakeview for a fun, fun nite at the 80s Party and for hosting the handicap dock fundraiser. Can't believe I ate a live minnow!! Thanks to Craig Schoen, Bob Quigley, Lowell Richardson, Marv Nofziger, and Chris Fischer from the Lake Poinsett Area Development Assoc for over $300 in donations, and to Don Lappe, Norma Halvorsen, Jim and Vicki Pantzke, Daryl Lovre, Jim and Rena Martin, Sunflower Salon and Spa, Cheryl McClemans and Bob Anderson, and Terry Turner for supporting my Norwegian sushi meal. It was worth the $500 that went toward the over $1000 raised last nite! Way to go Lakeview!!"

Thank you to everyone who got involved in the First Annual event, including the kids that went on the scavenger hunt and also those that helped to decorate LAKEVIEW with colored pictures of pelicans. Be sure to stop in and see their artwork displayed.

For more pictures, visit facebook.

This event was a fun opportunity to bring people together that share a common vision, enjoy a good time and love our lakes.  Thank you Deb Klebanoff for sharing the idea, Susan Fisher for the pelican artwork, Karen Brake for the party decor and to all three of you for your support and ideas while we brainstormed what we could accomplish this year! I wouldn't have done it without you and I hope you are looking forward to the next one! And to Jackie Baldwin and LPADA for getting behind us in promoting the idea, thank you.
